Dr. Rebecca Freeland Maurer, DVM
Born and raised in New Orleans, Dr. Rebecca Maurer graduated from the University of New Orleans in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. After finishing her undergraduate studies, she joined a medical research Ph.D. program at Louisiana State University Medical Center. After 2 1/2 years in this program, she realized that a career in veterinary medicine would be more rewarding. In 1998, she was accepted to Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate Degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2002.
After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Maurer moved to Randolph and joined the medical team at Randolph Animal Hospital. With professional interests in feline medicine, surgery and ophthalmology, she strives to combine high quality medicine with compassionate care for pets and their owners.
Dr. Maurer is trained in ultrasound imaging and has received certification in orthopedic medicine and surgery. A supporter of veterinary continuing education, she attends several national conferences each year in addition to numerous local veterinary medical workshops and specialty training programs.
During her leisure time, Dr. Maurer enjoys running, watching movies, reading science fiction books and eating spicy foods and desserts. She is married to Kirk Maurer, a local veterinarian and they live with their three dogs, Max, Gizmo, and Ziggy and two cockatiels, Charlie and Roscoe.
