Dr. Susan M. Harrington, MS, DVM

Native of Lynnfield MA, Dr. Harrington attended Tufts University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 1982. Following college graduation, she worked as a veterinary technician at Brookline Animal Hospital then packed up and moved to Oklahoma in order to pursue her veterinary studies. After beginning a Master’s Degree program in Cell Biology at the University of Tulsa, she was accepted to veterinary school at Oklahoma State University. During her first 2 years of veterinary school, she was able to continue work on her Master’s Degree, receiving her M.S. in Cell Biology in 1989. The recipient of numerous awards and honors, Dr. Harrington completed veterinary school and was awarded her Doctorate Degree from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State University in 1991.

Dr. Harrington returned to her roots in Massachusetts, working as an associate veterinarian at Beach Veterinary Services in Marblehead and Revere. In 1994 she purchased Dr. Barce’s Animal Hospital and Randolph Animal Hospital was born. Three months later she gave birth to her first child. Building the practice, while raising a family, has been rewarding and challenging for Dr. Harrington.

With professional interests in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, Dr. Harrington also enjoys treating ferrets and African pygmy hedgehogs. She has pursued continuing education courses in ultrasound and has received additional certification in orthopedic medicine and surgery in June 2005.

Dr. Harrington resides in Canton with her husband, Robert Fichman, a professor at Boston College, their 3 children, Claire, Ryan and Kyra and 3 feisty terriers, Willie, Dimitri, and Liam. During her leisure time, she enjoys jogging, gardening, scrap booking and sewing.
